Understanding Betting Odds – A Must For Beginner Bettors

Not everyone has the talent for mathematics to appreciate in broad terms what betting odds truly mean.

That’s why at least a basic understanding of betting odds should be one of the first lessons a bettor just starting out or one who is eager to push gambling success to more profitable heights must seek to know.

Sometimes you wonder why you lose more than win not realizing that some of  your gambling misfortunes could well be trimmed if you know how odds really work.

Obviously, money is the tool of trade when it comes to sports betting.

The sporting event is the product you want your money to pay for, and the odds are simply the price at which your money buys that product (event). So without odds you can as well keep your money as there would be no trading and without basic understanding of how this odds work you will not be a successful bettor.

So you see, in the world of sports betting , odds are of extreme importance to both the seller (bookmaker) and the buyer (bettor). The party with the superior knowledge likely takes the advantage.

So then, what are betting odds and how do one interprete them?

Betting odds are simply the price of a bet – nothing more, nothing less.

“Odds are there to tell you how much your payout would be in the event of  a winning bet and are not necessarily the actual probability of an event happening or not happening”.

Simple right?

Wait until you get introduced to the two main types of betting odds:

  • Decimal Odds
  • Fractional odds

There is no difference in terms of payout or value to choose one over the other. They are the same things displayed differently. As mentioned earlier, in gambling the odds are the ratio of payoff to stake and do not exactly reflect the true probabilities of an event.

Decimal odds you are most likely used to – with this sort of odds format your stake is included in your returns automatically.

For instance an odd of 1.5 implies you would win N150 with a N100 stake (stake x odd = winnings). That’s one advantage of decimal odds -just by seeing the odds you can tell your expected returns.

The real headache lies in fractional odds. As the name implies, they are displayed in fractions and there are two ways you can use to understand how they work:

  1. In terms of the ratio of how much you will profit/how much you have to stake.
  2. In terms of the implied long term frequency of an event happening.

Say you have a fractional betting odd of 5/1 – one meaning is that if you stake N1 (denominator) at 5/1 you’d win N5(numerator) and have your staked returned back.

So if you stake N4 at 7/4 then you’ll win N7 and get your N4 stake back.

If you look at the odds above carefully, the numerator is bigger than the denominator – this kind of thing is referred to as improper fractions in maths, but in gambling they are known as “odds against selections” . When the likelihood of an event not happening is greater than the likelihood of it happening, then the odds are ‘against’ that event happening. For taking on such risk, the amount the gambler wins is greater than the amount staked.

Another way to look at those same odds is in terms of the implied long term frequency of occurrence – taking the 7/4 odds for instance, what it says is if this event is repeated 11 times (numerator 7 + denominator 4), the team will win 4 times and not win 7 times.

Not to mention you can see odds that are upside down with the denominator bigger than the numerator (proper fraction) – such as 4/6, 2/3 and so on. This sort of fractional odds are called ‘odds on selections’ and it tells you the bookie is tipping this team as the strong favorite to win.

So an odd 2/3 implies that for every N3 stake you bet, you will win N2 and have your stake returned.

Oops! who says fractional odds aren’t headaches? Decimal odds are no doubt far easier for the heart and brain to understand hence their popularity.

So if i ask you 4/5 and 3/8 which is smaller? even the gifted would find it uneasy to give an answer at a go, but turn same question around and ask 1.80 and 1.37 which is smaller? the answer is obvious and as clear as day.

Evidently, decimal odds makes it super easy to calculate potential returns -you see an odd and you know at once that if you stake this amount you make that amount but fractional odds goes the extra mile of forcing you to think in terms of probability – so this guys are saying if this team plays this same game 10 times they’d win just 3 and not win 7?

how true?

is the bookie over/underestimating something?

You see, probabilistic reasoning kicks in.

In a game where outcomes are randomly distributed, thinking in terms of probability could sometimes help you make an educated mathematical guess when you have nothing much to go with.

That’s why the purpose of this article is to help you know your onions when it comes to odds. It’s not a perfect science, but once you start getting a proper understanding, things starts getting better and you are more likely to hit bigger winnings.

To start making better betting decisions and claiming bigger winnings, the first thing you need to do is work out yourself what you think the chances of a team winning is and compare your own prices with that of the bookmaker – don’t worry this simple task of compiling your own betting odds is not as scary as you may have thought. Moreover, you can always start developing your skills with simple methods until you become adept to venture into more challenging waters.

If this method appeals to you or you’re finally ready to start taking your betting serious and making staggering profits from your football betting business, then mastering and applying the investment methods in the Mega Betting Course is an absolute must.

  • Please rotimi explain to me why is that man utd did not win against burnley because i placed my bet manutd and manutd was giving small odd,u have even to always place a bet on small odd but it didn’t work, thanks.

    • Hello Hameed!

it’s hilarious to say i should explain why man utd lost 🙂 since am no prophet of any sort.
but i think the draw result wouldn’t be a surprise to someone
who have a grasp of probabilities as it concerns betting odds.

      here is what i mean…
if i recall the odds for Man utd to win was 1.20 corresponding to 83.33% chance
and that in itself explains the fact that since their chance is not a hundred percent it’s sure not a must win bet.
because they do have a 16.67% chance of not winning same game.

What this implies if you want to give a mathematical explanation here is that –
roughly 8 out of 10 times Man utd should win and in 2 attempts Man Utd would not win.

So again, the goalless result is not a shock since it conforms to long term statistical expectations definitely Man utd would win more of this kind of bets but you should also be prepared for the very few times that they MUST NOT win as well.

If you have any further questions Hameed, please let me know, i’ll be happy to squeeze in a few of my thoughts!

        • 3 ways games are still same as your normal football matches, or other games that the contestant either wins or draw the matches, that is Win, Draw, Win.
The calculation for this is same process with a little extra step. Details are given in the free training.

      • The interesting thing about an individual set of odds is they look at table position & at form. They are also influenced by market strength as the bookies know I. This example that Man United have far more followers than Burnley so the odds are likely to be shorter than you would expect

    • Thanks sir. I think Hameed. Out to grasp the definition of the odds properly, the small odd doesn’t mean that the team has an upper hand in winning, no it’s just the price of a bet. With your knowledge Mr rotimi I am able to tell how to define an odd. All thanks to you!!!

    • gud day Rotimi, I appreciate ur work. a match was played in Serbian league btw fk crvena zvezda vs partizan beograd, these two teams had excellent previous match winning 5-5, head-head 8-8 wins and 3 draws. fk crvena zvezda were topping d table with three points, by ur material and experience in betting home team has an advantage in this match but d outcome of d game was surprising. Away team winning that fixture @ 1-3. my question is if i should come across event like this what do u advise i do.

      • Emmanuel, this observation brings us to one truth most people fail to accept -football betting is unpredictable. Anything can happen, there is nothing like a sure game because everything depends on probability. So if you come across events like that, first thing you want to do is a comprehensive statistical analysis, from there you use available info to set the odds for the match yourself, then look for pricing errors. If you found one, you find a value bet, if you don’t you abandon the game and go check out other games. But don’t fall into the mistake of trying to predict outrightly, only a few lucky ones can, while the rest of us just have to accept our inabilities and try something else – trading bets for a living

          • Pricing error is an error that is made when creating odds for games.
If the bookie overprices a particular game, say he gives Man Utd 2,75 instead
of 2,10 to beat Arsenal, you can make a good profit in this.

  • Dear Rotimi,
I salute your effort and time spending on this great project. You are a man who do not only want to give fishes but rather give and teach how to catch the fishes….. Smiles…… kudos to you bro! And more grease to your elbow.
On Thursday 3rd of November 2016, after close of business a friend of mine called me that I should go and borrow money to invest in his game which have set to play last week. You know pool of course that it is only draws that they are predicting unlike soccer betting where we have multiple predictions. Funny enough some of the pool stackers do not even care to know the team seating on the number they are predicting to be a draw. Just like the case of my friend. When I asked him about the game, he said it is 1 & 25 two bankers 11 & 14 Pair ( that is for 1 draw) I asked him about the teams seating on those number he did not know and even do not bother to know the teams. I quickly go to google and search for pool fixture for the week and I was able to fetch out the teams on these numbers he gave to me as draws. See below:
    6 – Arsenal vs Tottenham
    25 – Bury vs Wimbledon
    11- Aston Villa vs Blackburn
    14 – Hudersfield vs Birmingham

After comparing their statistics I was not confident enough to bet any of the matches as a draw. Surprisingly, the only match that did not draw among the 4 matches is Aston V vs Blackburn which of course is pairing Hudersfield vs Birmingham
I was left with 2 opinion 1. Some matches are fixed 2. It is just a coincidence
But honestly I strongly believe that some matches are fixed.
Now my question is how do we factor match fixing when predicting matches outcome

    • Answer to the 1st opinion – Of course, fixed matches do exist but the percentage
of this type of already pre-determined games are very low.
so low that it is totally unnecessary to factor it in when forecasting an outcome.

Over to the next opinion about ‘pool outcomes being coincidences’….hmm that’s a weighty question.

The fact that ‘seemingly unlikely draw events played out draws doesn’t mean they are fixed matches.
if we can boldly say numbers in pool that play out draw are fixed matches, then it follows that the other
numbers that didn’t play out draws are ‘failed fixed matches’ —which obviously is untrue.

Moreover, a match could be fixed on any outcome not necessarily the draw outcome alone -it could be goals,
throw in or just about anything.

Thing is sometimes random events appear to form patterns and that’s the hallmark
of pool betting – ‘pattern recognition’. Coincidences do happen sometimes and you
notice apparent patterns but these patterns will not predict future events accurately,
hence they are fundamentally uncertain because Patterns that occur in past results and
seasons are not likely to be repeated though sometimes could be repeated through random
chance and may thus seem appearing to work but that success is not likely to be repeated
because Nothing is certain and each new pool betting week is independent.

That’s where i intend to leave things for now…thanks for the question. Interesting!

you may have to pardon my statistical ramblings Macaulay…

  • I greet you & your team for a good work. My question is your writing on creating betting odds, which you use man city vs middlebrough as your case study.

In the first illustration on how to get man city price, you add up 3 man city home wins and 1 middlebrough away loss(3+1=4)

The draw price, you add up man city 2 home draws and middlebrough 3 away draws(2+3=5)

Middlebrough price, you add up man city 0 home loss and middlebrough 1 away loss(0+1=1)

The above figure was used on the topic. My question is i want to know why you were silence in using middlebrough 1 away win in your illustration.

    Thanks in anticipation.

    • You are right! That was a typographical error Wale

To get the away price(middlebrough) you simply
[add total away wins of middlebrough (1) + total home losses of man city (0) = 1]

Hope that clears things up…thanks for the keen observation!

  • Am founding this very interesting, Kudos to you boss, more strong to your elbow, my question is base on those fraction as mentioned above, when you said 7/4 are u referring to single… thanks…

  • Dear Rotimi, Good Work and I am glad to be a participant of this great and scope widening free betting e-course.
I just want you to confirm my understanding of the both types of odds, is like both odds don’t actually give the right probability of an event without an individual doing his own calculations right? (in the case of odds against selection) the numerator which is usually higher can actually occur in the selected event.

    • I’m glad you’re participating actively Isaiah.
actually, both type of odds are same thing put in different format.

Now, not all odds given to by bookmakers are false. some are accurate and some are not.
problem is you can’t just take a glance and know which is right/false. Hence, it’s imperative you compile your own odds for each game so as to secure an edge.

  • I real thank you for your good work, I want to ask you, how can someone compared both team to score in a match

    • Hello Daniel, the both team to score market is a bit complex to explain right here.
But I assure you that the Mega Betting Course contains all the details you need.

  • Well, all I can say right now is a big “ThankYou”….I hope this is just the beginning of greater things.Thank you once again.

  • Dear Rotimi,
its quite interesting to participate in this mini E-course.
My question for now is, if odds truly do not represent the outcome of an event, how then do we know which team to favour or stake on.
From previous statistics, a particular team may be favourite having an edge over the opponent.

    • Great question Philip.
Unlike amateur bettors who walk blindly into bet shops, do a quick tumbo-tumbo and pick outcome they feel should win. You don’t do that.
To know the team to favor, first you have to know the real odds for the game because most times, the odds you sometimes see are being manipulated against you. so your first task is to derive the real odds that game you’re interested in should have. Next you compare your odds with the bookmaker to look for pricing errors, if you find any, take merciless advantage of it.

  • Good day Rotimi great work! Please i want to know, how do i start manufacturing my own odds to compare to that of the bookies thanks

  • thanks a lot sir for opening up my mind, eagerly waiting for the whole stuff to get to know good things ahead.

  • Hi rotimi, you are doing a great job I’ve only scored a 230 accumulating odd once and that was Nov last year. There are times I see a 2odds I’m like this is too good to be true and this is because I know the team, the statistics, injury, team form home and away.etc getting a 3 odds seems to be very difficult no matter how hard I try.

  • Thanks so much for your good work. Before now understanding betting odd has been a thorn in my flesh since their insights as to who wins is not certain most of the time. My QUESTION is when can a bettor take advantage of small odd over big one and what does it signify if two teams have nearly the same price bet ( odds).

    • helloo jerry. I don’t really get what you meant by taking advantage of small odds over big ones. but in betting regardless the odds once you find a good profitable opportunity you shoot. on the second question, if two teams have same odds, say 2.00 each. it means they both have same 50% chances in the match. Simply put they both have equal chances of winning. don’t over-think it!

  • Hi bro,plz I really want to know much about this betting Becos have been losing money on it since plz just me thru .Becos I want to be loser again .Thanks

  • Hello Rotimi, nice work by you and your team. My question is: how do you create/ derive your own odds when trying to find out the ‘real odd’ of an event? Just how do one go about it? Illustrations will be highly appreciated.
    Thanks

  • Am looking forward to more tutorials from you as I am already familiar with understanding the odds but am certain I will get to know more from your following courses.
Thanks for all effort you putting on this.

  • you re doing a great work…. please i want to ask you a question, how will you know the real odd in a game?

    • Simple – do the ratings yourself & calculate for it.
How? I will show you a simple method on lesson 5 of the mini course. don’t miss it!

  • Rotimi, I thank u very much for ur good work first I really appreciate ur good work, my question is the odds, I still want clearer explanation concerning the odds please

    • Thanks Williams…i’m gonna put you through all of that via email during the next set of lessons

  • Sir, you are really good, but I need more help on odds, in your analysis on odds 7/4 or 3/2 which one do you think is the best, then which bookmaker can I find it, I use 9jabet, your advice

    • That’s fractional odds. Very popular across some foreign books but down here in naija we deal on decimal odds.
but then I don’t understand what you mean by best….are you asking which of those odds have more value? or what? in any case convert first to decimal odds so you make a clearer judgement

  • Very educating and informative , just wishing i have known all these before. hoping to learn more so as to recover my lost

  • Sir,I really appreciate efforts in to educate me on bet. The question remains, how do i generate this odds?

  • To start making better betting decisions and claiming winnings, you said I need to workout what I think the chances of a team winning is and compare that with that of the bookmaker. Does this imply me going to compare stats and h2h of both teams, home and away run, injuries, their rankings and their strength and weakness. Or are there more mathematical calculations to it.
Is there anything like compiling a correct odd. How would you know a bookmaker odd is false and how can you detect real odds. How can you compile an accurate odd for a game.

  • Thanks so much for this, I highly appreciate all your efforts towards producing this e-learning Course , to let you know how important this write up of yours is to me, I left everything am to do just to make sure I understand this. Thanks again.

  • Mr Rotimi you are genius.
    I love your teachings.
Can one win everyday working with 10 odd per day?
In a situation where you have team A 2.16 odd and team 2.10 odd how can one chose the winner in this scinerio

    • I dunno the winner…there is no way to choose a winner just by looking at the odd..choosing any odd outrightly would be sheer gambling…go for the prices!

  • Thanks rotimi for all the coaching N lectures u gave to us about football betting. please i need more explanation on how to create my own real odds.

  • Rotimi kudos to you,you have really made me to understand that odd is not a surety that a game must win….I am actually confuse here, pls, how can I manufacture my own odd

  • thank you sir, for this wonderful and self instructing material that you made available to us, i will remain greatful to you, this e-book have thought a lot and am still learn from it, thank you sir, am still waiting in anticipation for the remaining materials.
please sir, i will like a clearer explanation from page 37 to 39, please sir i will be very grateful if you will help me with this explanation.

  • I really need the mathematical methods of computing my own odds to enable me do the comparative analysis to the bookmaker’s odds

  • Please sir i didn’t participate in the mini e course i dey vax so please i want to participate thanks

  • Thanks so much, I now have a little idea of what odd in betting is all about, though still far away from getting it right.

  • Thanks so much for sharing this wonderful information my beloved Brother, yeah please I just want to know more about the odds, frankly speaking I don’t even have any knowledge about Football, I’m just desperate to make money from the bet, but the ugly news is that I have been wasting my money to be Buying and Subscribing to all those hoodlums who claims to be selling “Fixed Matches” And yet they will promise me Heaven and earth and that makes me to be staking High sum of money for the game and at the end of the day I end up losing all my hard earned money to the bookmakers, but for the past few days I got intouched with you on facebook Br, I must confess that I am beginning to think of recovery all my loss! I just want to ask you Sir, as one who is not really conversant with football, hopefully I can still get to know the system please let me know Br. And I am very much ready for the Course and the E-book Br please kindly make it very fast OK. Thanks and God bless you Sir.

  • Hi Rotimi, I want to thank you for these eye opening lectures, more grace. I am eager to learn how to calculate and get my own odd for comparism with that of the bookies. My question here is, after you might have gotten your own odd calculated, what will be the yardstick of coming in to conclusion on which one to go for? Is it closeness of the odd to the one I calculated or what? Kindly shed more light, God bless you

    • Hell James
      Nice question…
let me give you an illustrarion, say you used to buy and sell phones as a trader, you get to alaba int. market, you met a man and told him that you want to buy an iphone6 and he told you its 45k, you decided to move further and ask another for the same brand and same quality, and he told you its 30k, which would you go for?
Wait let me help you with that, 30k right.
      There goes your yardstick.
You are looking for who is lying to you by over pricing the product, or who is trying to sell to you by under pricing it…

  • Thanks for the Lesson 1, my question is if we ignore the bookmakers odds what then becomes a pivotal marker for an event to happen using the odds system. You can agree with me that most bookmakers use the odds system to set their odds: for example Man Utd not to win Burnley is 16.33% does not mean they will make the odds 2.00

    • Yes
And i hope you also understand that these guys make money regardless of whether you win or loose.
The question then is how do they do that?
The later lessons will teach you that…

  • As a beginner, topic one succeeded in opening the importance and meaning of Odds. I really learn this today from you, Thank you.

  • Thank you for your teachings. Please I have not seen the teachings on how to compute odds. Send me an email message on how to compute betting odds before comparison. Thanks

  • Good morning, Mr rotimi, I appreciate all your efforts, finding time to send me all these valuable mails, but please after the lesson 1 that you sent to me, I ‘ve not heard from you again. Pls am expecting to get your mail soon. Thanks

  • Thanks very much.l learned about fractional odds today.i didnt know about them before.my next target or wish now is to know how to compute odds and the type of odds to be avoided

    • Thats an easy one Leo, if am allowed to call you that.
You will all that when you subscribe to my free mini course.
      Lesson 5 covers it…

  • Good evening Mr. Rotimi,
I am glad to start up with you on this beautiful course and I will follow it to the end. I have lost quite a lot to this guys and I thank you for bringing out time to put us through. I am expecting your next lesson.

Sir, please can you please send me mail on how to computation of odds. Thanks.

  • Tank you very much ,this is getting more interesting and I can’t wait to get the next lesson

  • So glad for today’s course,was interesting,
    Bt my question is this
According to the odd the bookmakers give, how are we be able to calculate the odds that will surely play

    • i explained this in detail in lesson 5 of the free training course. Once you go through it you will also learn how to calculate the odd.

  • Mr Rotimi. I’m really glad I came across your post and your blog. You’ve really been a coach and a mentor. My question goes thus; how can one tap from fixed games?. Is it that there are nothing like fixed games or what?

    • Like i said in my post, there are, but not the type you see most people claiming to have.
      those are tips…

  • Hi I really appreciate your write up, it is an eye opener to, please I want to start creating my own odds, I have also subscribed to your 5 days course but am yet to receive any mail from you
    Thanks

  • Thanks Mr. Rotimi!
Comparison and proper analysis is the key.
    But what about match fixing?
I really look forward to other eyes openner lessons.

    • i gave a full guide on that in lesson 4 and 5 of the free mini course. sign up for the course and see how you can know true or fake odds.

  • Thanks so much for the lesson, if not for anything, now I have learn how to calculate the odds and the monetary return assuming but i still wanna to secret of winning bets because I am just a pun in their hands.

  • God bless the day I saw your article on Facebook am supper excited for being part your mini course I’ve learnt a lot already pls how much will the mega course cost?

  • This is really an eye opener. Thanks a million..

I’ll really love to know how to calculate odds for myself and compare the with that of the bookmakers..

    Please help me!

I don’t want to be faster than my shadow cos I’ve learnt that patience is key in this business…

I look forward to the day when (could be today or sometime soon) you’ll teach or show me how to identify fixed matches and how to learn about certain leagues and their strengths…..

    Thanks once more!

    Kind regards,

    Peter!

    • Once you have signed up for the free mini course, you will be on your way to learning all that.

  • Hello, Mr rotimi, Thanks for today’s lesson l,please I will like to know how to get free bets (bonus bagging loophole) from foreign bookies and bet9ja.Thanks

    • All betting sites that i have been to offer decimal odds format, some like bet365 makes it an option to choose between decimal of fractions.

  • This is awesome. However I noticed some errors in ur write ups on the fractions. You interchangeablely use the proper and improper fractions. Pls check properly, I believe it might be a tapographical error. Proper fractions are fractions where the numerator is less than the denominator. Pls check again. Thanks.

  • Just before I ran into you, I had started a little study of my own and wanted to know if my analysis was on track, and praise the Lord, from what I’ve read from you at the elementary stage, I’m on track! I told myself this morning, I believe you are an angel sent from God to bail me out! I can’t wait to read your next lesson! Thanks a zillion for coming in so timely! God bless you!

  • It’s been a pleasure to meeting you sir. Your guides have made me feel like almost 80% of my money lost on betting site is because of my ignorance to betting. But now, I am thoroughly gonna read your book to gain knowledge in sport betting. Thank you and may God continue to bless you.

  • Thank you for the information on Odds. The truth of the matter is that, I never understood it till now.
And my question is this; how will I know that the team which has the lowest odds will win or not?

    • Am glad that you are starting to understand Michael.

To answer your question, i will use the coin flip example again,
So if you pick up a coin and flip, go ahead do it if you have a coin
or something like it, would you know exactly if you will get a Head or
      a Tail?

      See the answer is no!

But if i tell you that i will give 70% of your money back for every time
you get head and 30% for every time you get tail, if you place your
money on only one of the event happening, in this case a Head, you will
always make profit, VALUE, thats where your focus should be.

  • Thanks for this important information… Thank you very much. And please do you have any soccer prediction group?

  • Sir am still planing to practice some of your lesson I have learn from you but I will not forget to say you still remain the best sir

  • Thank you sir , you are the great boss your thought’s are really helpful, but now how can I be sure that the odds selected must win 100% quaranteed

  • Thank you Legit Mr Rotimialabi. U just your second email yesterday after reading book 1.
I have this question. Lets continue to use ManU (1.2) vs Burnley (6.5) for instance.
Since low odd is not a sure win but just market price, how do I conveniently play this? Which market option can I go for other than win or loss.

Kind regards and keep up the good work. You are making Africa great, one person at a time

    • Hello Bright,
All market options comes with its risk, and based on this you will make profit.
I cannot tell you that one is the most secure or the other is,
What i can tell you is to go with the one you are most comfortable with and learn it well.
Your main aim is to make profit, not to choose a winner at the end.

  • So many articles to cover i think my brain is going to swell, but there’s no rush I’m stopping all bets till i comprehend the art of betting and begin to show a level of mastery at my predictions.
Thanks for all your supportive emails by the way @rotimialabi

  • Great knowledge gained from this article!!
I know understand more about odds choosing and calculating,
Eager to know more in the next article

  • Good morning Sir, I am glad to receive your betting tips, thanks for the insight. How can I create my bet odds and possible outcome without indept knowledge about the teams performance status? Is there any clue to check team status before staking a bet to avoid mislead by past records? Thanks…

    • In creating betting odds, it is important you know the team recent performance.
And you can get such information from some betting sites and sports sites too.
In developing your strategy, always rate past performance higher than than teams status.

  • Having spent time and to go through your articles. I definitely need your e-learning guide for more knowledge of the beting system and to see how it works. How do I order it?

  • This is most day but I have learnt what I wouldn’t have known if it wasn’t for you. Thank you very much.

  • Am still trying to follow up am in my first day of free tutorials so am expecting to learn more that would bring profit. So thank you.
But some times try to go straight to the point. Dont you have any recommended site to help us with in depth football stats?

  • I am very happy for my first lesson sir and your now opening my mind towards betting business, I am one who like betting small odds thinking that it’s an indication that the team with small odds wins but the outcome is always opposite, what does it mean when fevarate team odds drop and the draw is also dropping?

  • Thank you very much Sir, on this informative lesson. I think I have a lot to learn from this course. Lesson one is just the beginning and I believe before and after the 5 days E- training course I would gain a lot and many questions to ask. I also believe the mega training course would be even more educative and informative which I am looking forward to
    Once again thanks

  • Thanks a lot because every time i place a bet I eventually go with odds which lead me to lose even if sometimes I lose with 1team on my tickets but it’s a lose I don’t know maybe I’m greedy or what but this email of yours gives me a better education and I guess i will be a better punter when time goes by 🙏🙏

  • Am so grateful for your information…. I will be waiting for the continuation of lesson…

  • Hello,
This is really getting interesting. Hoping for the day I will learn to calculate my own odds.
    How long would it take?

  • Hi. Thanks. I now understand the fractional odds. I tried to get the percentage from the decimal odds but discover that it’s more than 100.

  • Chairman! you are really helping many people more than you think, thank goodness I found you just at my depressed dying time as a punter, thanks.

  • Hello
I am not yet done with your course
I was supposed to take 6 days course but
I haven’t taken one. Can you please walk with
    me in this course.
    Sorry I was away!

  • Thank you Mr. Rotimi..
I just pop in and I’m learning calmly.

Please my question is , if two teams for instance, Leeds and Southampton have the same odds with 2.35, how will I go about it? It’s probability both team could win as your explanation tell me. So with this how can I pick one??

    • Hello Smith,
Your question is not quite clear though, but i will try to answer what i think you are referring.
In this case, where the odds given to both teams are of same value, you will have to consider and m=place more emphasis on your calculated value.
So, say the booknmaker give Leeds 2.35, and your calculated value says 2.10, then you know the value is on Leeds.

  • I’m from South Africa and I’m interested in your teachings but getting a hold of you is a mission. Is there a way you can provide your contact details because the WhatsApp number doesn’t work.

    • You can always get the data for the teams from the betting site.
Should this not be available for some reason, you can pick a different game instead.
You aim is to make profit not to predict every game.

  • I am having a hard time coming up with actual odds of mine to compare with the odds the bookies give, Please how do I go about it

  • Thank you very much sir for you lectures and i have actually crab alot of sence from your write up
most especially on the area of game accumulation because am one of the guy who stake on long list of games expecting some good return but at the end of it all one or two games will cut of the slips out of twenty games,

But my real question on this odd calculation is that how can one differentiate between chances prediction of bet and bookmakers Odd when we have different option to choose in a paticular game? Although am a good fan to mathematics, i believe you can make things a little bit easy for people me…Thanks

    • I am not quite clear about your question here, i believe you are referring to the idea of a true odd vs a false odd. I have covered this fully and how to calculate it in the free course.

  • Hey Rotimi, thank you so much for todays lesson on understanding the betting odds, but I have a question ,So since well the odds to not give the probability of which teams is going to win but it’s just a market price(tells you how much you will get by betting on that team) then what do you use to see the probability and yes the outcome is unpredictable but like how will you know which team will win or loss so that you can bet and win? I would really appreciate your clarity cause that was what I used to use to see the winning team or losing team and I promise you haven’t won ever since i keep on losing bets.

    • There are several factors you can consider depending on the side you want to take in a prediction. One of the most standout factors is the scoring power of a team and their ability to not concede goals. If a team scores a lot of goals but concedes less, you most likely will be on a wining side if you back them. This is just one factor, there are others too.

  • Thanks you Mr Rotimi, I really enjoyed this your betting e-course, but am still confused on odds compilation, pls can you still work me through?

  • Hello mr rotimi
    Thanks for today’s lesson
I have seen the statement that you have written that “Workout yourself what you think the chances of team winning is and compare your price (odds)with that of the bookmakers”
    Question
so what should i do inorder to get my own price (odd)and you know the games are unpredictable so how can i know the team i choose have a possibility of winning and to be assured the price and the team i choose are correct?

  • Thanks 🙏 alot for ur lecture, but I av failed to know how to identify a winning odd, and also this article only applies to direct win but not other options like overs/)unders

  • Hello greetings sir Rotimi Alabi this is really interesting to no about betting
Please I have a question to ask it is possible to winning on daily bases without recording any lose at all

  • Informative and rich content
But my question is, is there a formula betside or bookmakers use that we are un aware of.?

  • Good evening
Am following your lectures very keen but still don’t understand how to compute odds.hiw is it done please help

  • It’s my first time hearing this fractional odds and I will love to know much about it and how it really works. Thanks very much for the lesson sir. But dose that means fractional odds has higher probability of winning than that of decimal odds. And I haven’t seen this fractional odds on any betting sites yet. So please tell me how to find them and how they work sir.

    • No it doesn’t mean that, rather fractional odds are just a different way of expressing decimal odds and you would most likely find them on UK betting sites.

  • That of fractional odd did not clear bro and I don’t know how to stake on it how can I bet on it and how will outcome look like if it win or lose

  • Helo sir and thank you for the course you gave to me I’ve learnt lots of things that I don’t know .lve lost 25 times since I started betting I hope now I would make it since I have knowledge about betting thank you sir and continue with your good work
